Learn new ways of designing, building and illustrating functional pottery with Chandra DeBuse. Chandra will share how she uses paper, craft foam, wood and bisqued clay to generate plates, scoops, cups, vases and pitchers through hand building with soft clay slabs. She will demonstrate how texture, underglaze inlay, sgraffito and brushwork can be combined to create lively surfaces with characters and patterns. Although the techniques and discussion will cover pottery and surfaces for midrange electric, the workshop will be valuable for anyone striving to develop a more cohesive relationship between form and surface in their own clay work.
